Summary: I Reference This Book Frequently
Comment: If you're seriously into the history and production of the M1911's, then you must have this book in your library. It should be referenced along with the Clawson books. I've had this book in my library for almost 20 years, and it is referenced frequently.

Summary: Great resource for most of us old dogs
Comment: As a shooter far more than a collector, I was looking for a one stop guide to the history, variations, and serial number reference for the 1911's that I have come to love over the last 25 years. Far from being a serious collector, I have owned several over the years, used them in IPSC and IDPA, and even to take white tail. I am always on the lookout for nice old Colts when I see them. This book has given me all I needed to be a little better educated on age, relative value, and authenticity. Now if I could just get it to fit in my back pocket...

Summary: The Government Models:Development of the Colt Model of 1911
Comment: Mr.Goddard's book is a fine one and was the best on the market until Mr. Clawson's book on the same subject was published. A complete arms library should contain both publications, but I personally feel Mr. Clawson's is a pace or two better.
