Bowhunting is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the world of hunting. Bowhunting Tactics of the Pros will not only introduce you to the wonderful world of bowhunting, it will take you through all the levels - from beginner to expert. Did you get a deer last season with your bow? Did you even see a buck - or bull elk, bear, moose, mulie, or pronghorn? If you answered No to any of these questions, Bowhunting Tactics of the Pros is just the book for you. In fact, it's for you even if you answered Yes. Why? Because this is the most detailed, up-to-date, fact-filled book on bowhunting you can find. With chapters written by major experts in the field - this book has invaluable information. (6 x 9, 336 pages) Lamar Underwood is former editor-in-chief of both Sports Afield and Outdoor Life magazines, and is presently editorial director of the Outdoor Magazine Group of Harris Publications in New York, as well as the editor of several other Lyons Press anthologies.

Customer Rating: Summary: Great Bow Hunting Book!!! Comment: This collection of insights amounts to a treasure chest of hunting wisdom that can improve any hunter that is committed to learning new skills (Whether you're a novice or seasoned hunter).
Great techniques and timely insights make for a very enlightening read.
Put some logs on the fire, kick back and enjoy this book. Then go out and apply what you've learned.
Happy hunting.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not focused enough on the West Comment: This book has some good information and is very thorough. However, the book is geared very heavily toward white tails and Eastern terrain. Hunters looking for tips for mulies should look elsewhere.
Customer Rating: Summary: Finally a bow hunting book with some scientific validity. Comment: A lot of hunting books are antidotal accounts of the authors hunts and never really give you any solid information. This is NOT one of those. It is a collection of articles written by various big game hunters/authors/experts. Yes, there are some hunting stories, but the vast majority is well researched information put into a form that you can use. It is actually a good read. I find myself not wanting to rush through this so I get full enjoyment out of it. Since this is a collection of articles, it is easy to read one a night before I drift off to sleep and dream and big bucky.
Several articles explain how the rut works in great detail. Some of the information is controversial-such as timing the peak breeding by using the moon-but the research will make a believer out of you. For any hunter looking for even the slightest edge in hunting big game, there will be something in this book for you.
Customer Rating: Summary: For any dedicated archery hunter's reference shelf Comment: Compiled and edited by bowhunting expert Lamar Underwood (who is also the Editorial Director of the Outdoor Magazine Group of Harris Publications, New York), Bowhunting Tactics Of The Pros: Strategies For Deer And Big Game is an extensive collection of impressive and informative essays concerning how to effectively hunt game with the traditional bow and arrow. From hunting truly challenging game such as moose, grizzlies, and black bears, to expert-level strategies concerning scents and calls to taking advantage of deer rutting season, Bowhunting Tactics is a first-rate, highly recommended addition to any dedicated archery hunter's reference shelf.
Customer Rating: Summary: Bowhunting Tactics of the Pros Comment: This is a serious Bowhunting book for serious bowhunters. This book took me beyond my current knowledge level (Bowhunting for ten years) and answered several of those questions that seem to have a hundred answers (a different one from everyone you ask). There is an excellent section on the rut and answers several questions like when is the rut, how does it start, how do deer respond during different parts of the rut and rut hunting strategies. The first section has excellent chapters on habits including diet, bedding, scraps, and rub lines. The book also has hunting strategies of several "expert" hunters with some excellent advice on stand placement. This book has so much more and I feel there is something for every bowhunter, novice to expert. This one will stay in my library and be passed on to several friends.
